Am I overweight ?

Check your BMI

If your BMI - Body Mass Index - is more than 25 you are overweight. A BMI of over 30 is classed as obese. You can calculate your own BMI using a simple formula. For this you will need to know your height (in metres) and your weight (in kilos). The following example is for somebody 1.7m tall and weighing 82 kgs.

Step 1 - multiply your height by itself, that's 1.7 x 1.7 = 2.89

Step 2 - divide your weight by this figure, that's 82 divided by 2.89 = 28.4

In this example the BMI is 28.4. A healthy BMI is between 18.5 and 25.

If you really want to lose weight you will need to change your current eating habits. And get more exercise.
